I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of His

Majesty's Treasury to transmit herewith for the information

of Mr. Secretary Harcourt copy of a letter dated the 4th

instant, and of its enclosure which They have received

from the Committee of the Stock Exchange, relative to

certificates stated to have been signed by the Attorney

General of Hong Kong to the effect that certain shares are

and have been in British possession prior to August 1914,

together with a copy of Their Lordships' reply of today's

date.
